Kairos Palestine International Conference

To celebrate Kairos Palestine’s fifth anniversary of  launching the document “A Moment of Truth”, we, in partnership with PIEF (Palestine Israel Ecumenical Forum) and ATG (Alternative Tourism Group) will be holding an international conference and a series of events from December 2-6 2014, in Bethlehem.

Five years have blessedly flown by in which the document became a global movement, supported and encouraged by all of you who answered the call for a just peace based on faith, hope and love; but the steadfast struggle for liberation is still on.

This cordial invitation is for the special conference in this International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People entitled

Life with Dignity

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed, perplexed, but not despairing”

(2 Cor. 4:8)

 December 2-4, 2014

Bethlehem Hotel, Bethlehem

The conference will focus on theology, advocacy, justice, resistance and pilgrimage. Kindly inform us of your willingness to share this opportune moment of Kairos Palestine, determined to advance forward in this year of solidarity with the Palestinians.  For more information, visit:  http://www.kairospalestine.ps/?q=content/kairos-palestine-international-conference

The Iraqi Civil Society Solidarity Initiative (ICSSI) and Iraqi Social Forum (ISF) are issuing an urgent call for activitis from around the world to come and discuss a just resolution of the current crisis in Iraq at the upcoming conference of the ICSSI, 27-29 October 2014, to be held in Oslo, Norway.

The ISF will also be holding a special session at the 2014 Globalization Conference (which is organized by the Norwegian Social Forum) on October 31st, entitled “Hope for Peace and Development in Iraq:  Meet the Iraqi Social Forum”.  Here they will share perspectives on how, more than 11 years after the U.S. invasion, Iraqis are still struggling to overcome the effects of war and to subdue the sectarian conflicts that emerged during the occupation and have been exacerbated by the current Iraqi government (see http://www.globalisering.no/).

Activities during the ICSSI conference will consist of a number of open and wide-ranging discussions about the current situation in Iraq. Participants will discuss options for promoting dialogue among all members of Iraqi society and pressuring the Iraqi government to support reconciliation and reject war as a solution to the current crisis. International delegates will focus on how to support Iraqi civil society’s efforts to rebuild a stable political system in which all citizens can participate without discrimination or bias. Participants will  also discuss the campaigns currently led by Iraqi CSOs and supported by ICSSI.
