Pilgrimage for Transformation

Karibu Foundation to host seminar in Oslo


The Karibu Foundation will host a day-seminar entitled "Pilgrimage for Transformation" on Thursday, 28th February from 10:00-15:00.   The seminar aims to present a voice from the global South on the understanding of pilgrimage;  theologically, culturally and politically.  In addition, it will develop a framework for promoting a code of ethics for Norwegian pilgrimages to The Holy Land.   More information is found below.


You are warmly invited to a day seminar on "Pilgrimage for Transformation," Thursday, 28 February 10:00-15:00.

Seminar will consist of two sessions:

1.) VOICES FROM THE SOUTH (Held in English)

We will hear the experiences and reflections of representatives from various countries in the Global South, including India, Nigeria, and Palestine, on their work with pilgrimage trips to the Holy Land.

2.) PROFILE OF NORWEGIAN PILGRIMAGES TO THE HOLY LAND (Held in Norwegian)

Various representatives of church-related organizations and networks and organizations in Norway will offer their thoughts on theology, ethical reflection, and praxis related to pilgrimage tours to the Holy Land and conflict areas.

The seminar is aimed at accomplishing the following:

- develop further the discourse on pilgrimage theology and practices that began with a Karibu seminar in June 2012

- present a voice from the global South to the understanding of pilgrimage, theologically, culturally and politically

- share some critical remarks on Norwegian pilgrimages to The Holy Land, and view practices on a background of some ethical guidelines

- develop a framework and establish a working group for promoting a code of ethics for Norwegian pilgrimages to The Holy Land

Lunch will be served.
The seminar is free of charge.

The seminar will be held at Kirkens Hus (R�dhusgt 1-3) in Oslo (Meeting room Agder/Bj�rgvin).
